Jodie, Goldie, Quest & Reagon – Mud to Makeup Shoot, Essex

On a very sunny, but windy day, a couple of weeks back, Jodie invited Sherrie and I over to her home, in Waltham Abbey, for a makeover shoot with her three horses, Goldie, Quest and Reagon

We began with little Goldie, who was Jodie’s first ever pony! ‘Golden Sapphire’ is a Welsh Section B and Jodie has owned him since she was just seven years-old. Despite his original advert clearly warning ‘not a first pony’, Jodie’s Dad decided he liked Goldie’s colour and bought him anyway.

However, Jodie says that he taught her so much and he clearly means the world to her. Goldie now has cushings and lives a life of luxury, enjoying his retirement.

Next I met the lady of the manor, beautiful Quest. Quest is an Irish Draught cross Thoroughbred and is a real allrounder. Jodie has owned her since she was eleven and they have done a bit of everything together, including showing, dressage and cross country.

Quest is now more of a happy hacker, enjoying the odd sponsored ride, when it takes her fancy. But Jodie tells me that she tries her hardest at whatever is being asked of her and is a horse in a million.

And lastly I met Reagon. Anybody knows me will know that Reagon is my type of pony, so I fell instantly in love with all that mane and feather. Jodie has owned Reagon for four years and bought him with the intention of showing at a high level.

However, life got in the way and lack of time prevented her from fulfilling this ambition so far. In the past Reagon has won a string of CHAPS classes and championship and has been in the ribbons wherever he goes. Jodie said that as he’s so different from her other horses, it took a while to get used to him, but that he is an absolute dream to work with.

Thank you so much, Jodie and team, for such a lovely shoot. We had great fun meeting you all and the menagerie at your yard!! 🙂
