I had a mixed day on Friday the 13th. The weather was grey and someone drove into my car on the M1 (nobody hurt!) but thankfully, I had two really fab shoots, to make up for it.
I took a trip over to Low Farm, in Wellingborough, and my first willing victims were Sarah’s gorgeous children and their gang of games ponies.
Bubbly, seven year-old Lottie competes in the junior Prince Philip Cup team, for the Oakley Hunt West and she also rides for South Glamorgan mounted games team, competing all over the country. Lottie is a super confident little jockey and has taken part in mounted games since she was just four years-old, aswell as being a Pony Club member since the age of three.
Her two ponies are absolute superstars and little speed demons. Firstly, there is ‘Princess Pip’, Lottie’s mounted games pony. Pip is a fifteen year-old, chestnut, Welsh Section A who absolutely knows her job.
And then there is beautiful little Menna. Menna, the grey, is also a Welsh pony and is twenty-eight years-old. She and Lottie love jumping together and compete in all Pony Club activities. Menna is the ‘Queen Bee’ of the family.
And lastly, Lottie’s little brother, five year-old Charlie, owns the very cute Spotted Miniature, Rah Rah. Charlie and Rah Rah are the very best of friends and they also enjoy mounted games for Central Warwickshire and are members of the Oakley Hunt West Pony Club.
I had so much fun photographing this wonderfully chaotic, energetic little gang. They were full of smiles and mischief, but super polite and sweet, and really made me laugh. As you would imagine, Lottie and Pip do everything at 100mph and standing still definitely isn’t their favourite. But they were just so much fun to photograph and Lottie spent the whole time giggling.
Thank you, guys, for making my job such a pleasure. It was quite a whirlwind but I loved it!
