Rebecca, Elizabeth, Henry, Daisy & Blossom – Equine Photography, Lancashire

At the weekend, I went off on the first of my photoshoot tours, up to Lancashire, with Sam as my chauffeur and four fab shoots lined up.

My first stop was with Rebeccca and Elizabeth and their gang of traditional cobs, at their home in Trawden. Between them, Rebecca and Elizabeth have three gorgeous, very hairy ponies, taking residence in their front garden and they enjoy hacking around the beautiful Lancashire countryside.

First up was the man of the house, handsome Henry. Eleven year-old, coloured, Irish cob, Henry, is Rebecca’s horse and has been with her since he was four, after she purchased him from a dealer.

Henry is quite the all rounder, having turned his hoof to showing, cross country, hacking and one of his favourite past-times, going for a gallop on the beach. Rebecca tells me that he tries his heart out at anything she asks of him and always looks after her. She also says that he is a typical man and is ruled by his tummy, always seeking out the yummiest grass, at every opportunity!

Next was Elizabeth’s pony, Daisy. Daisy is also eleven and was previously used to pull a carriage round the Guinness factory, in Ireland. That is about as Irish as an Irish cob can get, I think! Daisy is the most endearing little mare, with a real kind eye and so much silky mane and feather. She is ‘verging on lazy’, Rebecca tells me, but is perfect for Elizabeth, who isn’t the most confident of riders and just enjoys plodding around the local hacking routes on her super sweet girl.

And lastly, I was introduced to the resident ‘buy one get one free’. 😉 When Elizabeth bought Daisy, the dealer assured them that she was ‘definitely not in foal’. However, seven months later, in May 2014, little Blossom arrived into the world. Blossom is now a super cheeky, characterful two year-old and the adored baby of the family.

Thank you so much to Elizabeth, Rebecca and family, for such a lovely welcome, cups of tea and the fresh eggs, which taste great poached, on toast! It was a pleasure to meet you all and work with your gorgeous cobs.
