Sophie & Magic – Equine Photography, Essex

My second Sophie, on my two-Sophie-shoot, owns the very handsome Fell pony, Castle Hill Magic. I do love a nice stocky, hairy pony, so I was quite smitten with this little chap. Isn’t he gorgeous?! And he’s a real gentleman, too.

Sophie has owned Magic for almost two years, but has recently sold him. Luckily, he isn’t going far and Sophie knows his new owners, so will be able to keep in touch. He will leave at the end of August, so Sophie was keen to get photographs of them together before he goes.

Magic is ten years-old and is such a dude. Sophie said he is pretty much always well behaved and he certainly had a very laid back attitude to our photoshoot. He didn’t put a foot wrong. He wasn’t at all bothered by Sophie dressing up in that gorgeous, sparkly dress and riding him around the green out the front of the yard. Although he was pretty enthralled by the amount of grass we had him standing in.

Sophie and Magic have done a lot of showing together, with some pretty impressive results. Last year they achieved a very respectable fourth and eighth place at the Royal International Horse Show.

Sophie tells me that Magic has been an absolute angel for her and has been solely responsible for hugely improving her confidence. What a lovely boy. I’ve been there, with confidence issues, so any pony that can bring somebody’s confidence back is a winner in my book!

Thank you to Sophie and Magic, for being so easy going and sweet. And to Sophie’s mum, Jane, who organised the whole thing as Sophie’s Christmas present. It was lovely to meet you all.
