Meet the Evans family. In the past six months, they’ve made some huge changes to their life. And it all started because one little girl fell in love with horses.

When Lillie asked her mum, Dawn, if she could have a horse of her own, after having riding lessons at the local riding school, Dawn decided, rather than just dismiss the idea, to do something about the fact she had little to no horsey experience.

She went to the riding school and said to the instructor ‘I need you to teach me how to ride!’ She wanted to be able to help Lillie and encourage her passion, but knew that she’d need to expand her own knowledge first. What a fab mum, right?!

A few years down the line and not only do Lillie and Dawn both have their own horses, Jigsaw and Monty, but Lillie’s brother, James, has also got the bug and owns his own horse, Monster, who he bought from his girlfriend, Sarah.

And if that weren’t enough, at the end of last year Dawn and her family made a big move to a new home with stables, land and an existing livery yard attached! So now, they run the livery and keep their horses at their beautiful home in Wales.

I just thought it was so incredible and idyllic that this lovely family have become so invested in this lifestyle, all because Lillie, like so many of us do as little girls, dreamt of a pony of her own. And I think it’s a perfect example of how far under your skin and into your hearts these amazing animals get, once you’re hooked.

Thirty year-old Jigsaw was the pony that they originally bought for Lillie. But as Lillie has progressed and Jigsaw has grown older, he now belongs to Dawn and they enjoy plodding around the Welsh countryside together. Lillie and James’s horses, the two greys, Monster and Monty, enjoy competing and a faster pace of life.

Thank you so much for having us, Dawn and family. You were so welcoming and we had such a lovely afternoon getting to know you all. I think what you’ve done with the move is just fab and I wish you every success with the yard and your new adventure.
