Back at the beginning of April, I had a photoshoot with Millie and her horse, Frankie. She enjoyed it so much that the week after, she contacted me and asked if she could purchase a gift voucher for her sister, Tori’s birthday.
Millie and Tori’s family home is just a short distance away from some friends of mine, so one morning, having discussed it with Millie so that they wouldn’t think I was burglar, just before we set off for a show, I crept down their private driveaway at 4.30am and left Tori’s gift box in the porch, trying not to wake anybody up with my noisy Mini. I felt like Father Christmas!
And last weekend, I went back over to Tori’s parents home to spend time with her and her two ponies, Teddy and Bear.
When I arrived, Tori introduced me to Teddy by telling me, in no uncertain terms, that he was the star of the show. And he wholeheartedly agreed with that! Old man, Teddy is a twenty-four year-old Welsh Section A and Tori has had him for sixteen years. He was her first pony. He now has no teeth and has to have his food mashed up, but he is definitely the ruler of this roost. What a fab little character!
Second to pose for us was Bear, Tori’s new traditional cob. Bear has only been with Tori for a couple of weeks and she has him on full loan. Bear was such a poser and just loved all the attention. Which bodes well for Tori’s plans to eventually show him.
I absolutely love the field full of buttercups that we were able to use for our backdrop, even if we did all emerge covered in yellow from the hips down. But Teddy had a great time, galloping around, bucking and showing off that whilst growing old may be mandatory, growing up is certainly optional.
Thanks for having me at your beautiful family home for a second time, Tori and Millie. It’s been lovely meeting you all and your extended furry family.
