You may have seen the images I posted yesterday, from the Greenstead Green group photoshoot. Well, it was Sophia’s mum, Michelle, who did a fantastic job of organising the entire thing and initially booked the shoot for Sophia’s 14th birthday.
In light of this, I spent a little more time with Sophia and her two horses, Pie and Blaze, to make the occasion special for her, and as a result, I wanted to share her images separately.
Sophia has has coloured cob, Pie on loan for the past year, but has known him for years. Coincidentally I also used to ride Pie when he was on the riding school at Writtle College, so it was so great to see him again, almost ten years later. I remember that he would jump anything and was super speedy. He’s the type of pony every little girl should have at some point in their life.
But it was a bit of a bittersweet shoot for Sophia and Pie, as the day after our shoot, Sophia and Michelle were delivering Pie back to his owner to live a bit of a quieter life. Sophia is wanting to jump bigger, compete more often and she’s growing taller. And at twenty-six, Pie needs to start living a quieter life, although he strikes me as the type that will go on forever. So he and Sophia have now parted ways, but as they are good friends with his owner, Emily, I have no doubt they will keep in regular contact.
Blaze is Sophia’s new horse. She is a Welsh cross and has only been with Sophia for around one month. Sophia hopes that they will enjoy lots of competing and hunting together and it certainly seems that Blaze has settled in well. She behaved like an angel and was perfectly happy following Sophia around the farm. There is definitely the beginning of a strong bond there, already.
Thank you so much, Michelle. You were an absolute superstar, organising the whole shoot and getting everybody in line. And I hope that it was a birthday treat to remember, Sophia.
