Grace and Rosie’s mum, Mel, and I have been friends for quite a few years. The first time I worked with Grace was when I had a studio and she was two. Then last winter, I photographed her and Rosie in the woods.
This summer, Mel asked me to photograph her gorgeous girls with Rosie the pony, at the livery yard they are on, in Wheeley. Mel loans Rosie from a friend of hers and she and the girls absolutely adore her.
And it’s easy to see why. Rosie was an absolute angel. Fairy wings, a princess dress, bubbles and two very exuberant little girls, and Rosie didn’t bat an eyelid. What a superstar. She was, however, rather enamoured with the idea of standing out in that big, grassy field, having been confined to restricted grazing in recent months. I think she thought all her Christmasses had come at once.
I love working with Grace! She’s full of beans and had so many ideas bout what to wear. Adorable. And as soon as she stepped into her fairy dress she was ‘flying’ around the yard, leaping and pirouetting in amongst the mud. That’s one of the things I love about these shoots. The glamour and the fancy outfits that my clients often choose are so totally juxtaposed to the ordinary, mucky life of a horse owner. And Grace just looked super cute floating about avoiding the mess and puddles, in her pale pink outfit, whilst Mel just rolled her eyes and called her a ‘diva’. 🙂
And is ‘human Rosie’, as Mel calls her, not the cutest, squidgiest little bundle of fairy cuteness you have ever seen? I was so excited about photographing these two, because I knew they’d be gorgeous models. Thanks for having me Melly! We must do that spag bol night, soon.
